• Artifact 4 - Domain 3 - Component3c - Structure and Pacing
  • Decription: This artifact displays my knowledge of structuring my lessons correctly and providing adequate pacing schedules.

  • Structure of Lessons:

Creating a structure for a lesson is something that is needed because if a lesson starts from then goes to the beginning and then starts at a middle your students are going to be confused out of their minds. My structure that I find works best for me is this one to the left that is based off of Modeling or demonstrating to the students the desired skill, what you want them to achieve by the end of this lesson. The next stage is guided practice where you involve students in the learning processes and get their creative juices flowing. The next after that would be independent practice. To close the lesson we would go over that independent practice and talk about how we did and what we learned for that lesson.

  • Pacing:

Pacing is one of the hardest tasks to accomplish at because of the fact that time can fly by you without a moment’s notice. Basically what helped me through my student teaching and what guided me through my days was to actually have a timer right next to me and I timed each thing we did in the lesson. I can only get better with this over time but I don’t think this particular skill will ever be mastered because of the way time can go.
