• Artifact 3 Domain 2 - Component2c - Managing Classroom Procedures
  • Desrciption: (Consists of: Management of transitions, materials, supplies)

Daily Routines:

  • OPENING OF THE DAY:

These are essential in a classroom running smoothly and loosing little to no instruction time. In my document it starts with opening of the day. Basically this is where we conduct the pledge; turn in homework, place lunch where they need to be. Complete daily writing assignment and share what they wrote. Once their writing is complete students will get their job cards for the day.

  • TRANSISTIONS BETWEEN SUBJECTS:

Students will be given three minutes to transition from one subject to the next. When I play classical music they will know it is time to move on to a new task. This would be laid out on the board of what time each subject begins and ends. When I play the song ‘Footloose’ students would know that it is time to get ready for lunch and they have 5 minutes to clean up and get lined up. When the song ‘RESPECT’ comes on students will know that is class meeting time. I really think incorporating music into would bring students around and they would complete these tasks more efficiently but I have not tried it yet.

  • ATTENDANCE:

With this particular task students would have a job for the day and if that job is to take attendance to the office or remind the teacher who is here or who is not. Then that is what is supposed to happen and of course this would be a practiced skill that I would always monitor.

  • MOVEMENT OF PAPER:

Students would be assigned in groups so each group would have a person who pick up the papers for the day. Another student would turn in papers for the day. These routines would typically be established in the beginning of the year usually the first week.

  • CLOSING OF THE DAY:

With ten minutes left for the day students would get told what is due for the next day and they would turn in their job tags.
