Decription: demonstrating my knowledge of properly mangaing student behavior.
Behavior Chart (What happens throughout the day)
I created this chart in my Education 206 class. The basis went around a central theme which was ‘HOLLYWOOD’ the first offense began in the morning. If students forgot homework, reading log, or was causing a disruptions they would get consequences such as a warning for disruption and completed assignments must still be turned in. Throughout the day they would have two more chances and then the last would be a conference with the parents if the behavior consists for more than a week.
Class Rules (Essential)
My classroom rules went around the same theme as my behavior chart which basically The S.T.A.R.S of my class. These are basic, but ideally I would want to have the students come up with the rules using a mapping technique that would engage all learners and provide a sense of community. My rules are the basic stay on task, talk politely to others, always follow directions, and respect everyone around you.
Individual Behavior rewards:
My reward systems were also around a central theme. (I REALLY ENJOYED THIS ASSIGNMENT). Students basically were accountable for their behavior throughout the day. They would earn cash throughout the week that would guide them with some life skills practice. They would carry check books and wallets and have to keep track of their earnings. Also each week we would have a celebrity of the week, they would get to choose the job they want and free time will be rewarded they will receive an O.S.C.A.R for their achievements and would have a spotlight day.
Managing Student Behavior
This artifact falls under component 2d, basically this is an individual response to student misbehavior. Provides a stable monitoring system that helps the teacher track these misbehaviors by a particular student that is occurring on a regular basis. It focuses on the target behaviors "missing assignments" and "class disruptions" which are the main issues with this said student. I created a plan description, but the hardest thing about this particular lesson is addressing an issue that you cannot physically see or you don't know the student personally. For rewards and consequences I would have based that off the student’s academic achievements and her not misbehaving in class.
Managing Student Behavior (Student Teaching)
For my student teaching, I basically adapted my cooperating teachers method of behavior. It works for this said group of students. We have one student who is on a behavior plan but ever since he's been introduced to this plan his progress has been very much for the better. The main management for whole group behavior that worked for me was adding P.A.T time which is giving student a preferred activity time at the end of each week but it is based of their over all behavior they can earn and lose points throughout the week.
