Description: In this artifact I am demonstrating my knowledge of student and teacher resources.
Educational Resources….
Dictionaries and Thesaurus these resources are essential in the classroom because it not only helps students become independent learners it promotes proper spelling also. They have these resources readily available for them whenever they need to you use them for writing and or looking up a definition of words. I feel that these resources need to be prevalent in the classroom because students seem to feel afraid to use these resources because the teachers sometime don't emphasize their use. These are great resources that all students should be learning to use efficiently.
The SMART board…
The SMART board is a great use of technology for teachers it enables teachers to create interactive assignments for students. The students really get a kick out of using it also which promotes engagement among the class as a whole. It’s like a virtual white board basically but you can save all of those things you do on the SMART board and keep them on file. It creats better anchor charts for teachers as well because studnets can up and help create it instead of the teacher doing all the writing.
The ELMO…
The best invention in teaching it did take time for me to be comfortable with using it but it gives you that advantage of typing things up or taking any worksheet you want and doing the assignment with the students without the hassle of creating transparencies. It provides students with more time for instructional teaching then worrying about if their marker runs out or they don't have something to erase their mistakes.
The Computers…
Computers are conveniently located in the classroom to provide easy access for students to take their A.R. tests and these tests are essential and help build comprehension because students need to maintain at least 10 points a month with a percentage of 80% correct at all times. Having this computers available eliminates the times students would have to leave to take a test.
Technology based resources (websites)
At various different schools you are provided with a variety of technology resources that help better student achievement. Which includes a Lexia reading, it’s a program for struggling readers to become more proficient in their academic reading levels but guide them to achieve higher so they can progress throughout the year. There is math magician which is a math based website t hat helps with basic facts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Study Island is a great way to give students extra practice with skills that you have already went over to keep it fresh in their minds. Compass learning gives struggling learners a lesson in a fun way to help them better concept the skill that is being asked of them.
