Engaging students in learning through instructional materials
Character Report Card
Student engagement is a must to have in the classroom. In order to know that your students are learning or thinking about what you are instructing them to do they need to be engaged in the discussion. The first artifact I provided in my slideshow is the character report card, I felt this was a great resource for the students because they really enjoyed thinking about what is the character really thinking and why is this character getting a satisfactory in this category. Students were to give the character a grade then explain why they gave them that grade specifically.
Narrative Mountain
This artifact provides students with going through the process of the narrative elements in a story and placing them in the correct places. This can also go under sequencing because providing the narrative elements in the right place is essential in understanding what the story was actually about.
Character Arc
Was a great activity to get students really analyzing a characters details in a story and finding out why the author made he or she act in the way they did. Also by determining how was the character at the start of the story and how did the character change throughout the text.
Math manipulative
It is essential to be able to provide a variety of manipulative for students to mess with so that they can understand the content with hands on learning. The students enjoyed being able to see the actual solids up close and the ability to tell me what each was. The next to slides is the resource of the math textbook that provides visual examples for students to see how it would look on an assessment.
